HUNTING STORIES
Kirk and I like to go deer hunting. He is quite a bit more serious about it than I am. He goes bow hunting as well. We lease 1600 acres near Possum Kingdom Lake in North Texas that is the home of several hundred white tail deer, wild hogs, wild turkey and several other wild animals. We camp out in our 30 ft. camper trailer. It is a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
This is my first big buck, shot at 175 yds. in December 1996. He has 9 points and weighed about 125 lbs.
My second 9-point buck I got this year on Nov. 14, 1999. I shot him with a 270 shotgun at 50 yards. It was not near as big as my previous one, but I was still proud of it. I hunt with 7 other men and it's fun to think I can shoot just as well as the guys.
My husband, Kirk has shot two other 9-point bucks this year. He has yet to have one mounted though that matches my first 9-point (he he). He has shot several wild hogs and turkeys though and that is my new goal. I want to shoot a wild hog or turkey someday.
